Abstract:

The following article is aimed to review the related literature with respect to vocabulary learning through picture-aid, which is mentioned by several researchers through decades. At the first stage of reviewing, the notion of vocabulary is described broadly and the distinctive types of vocabulary is presented. Secondly, the importance of vocabulary learning in foreign language learning is explained and the related studies are compared, in order to reveal the advantages and disadvantages of their frameworks. Also, this article reviewed some articles which is studied in Iranian context. Last but not the least, the present study is reviewed various aspects of vocabulary learning with picture-aid, such as flash cards, drawing on board, etc
