Abstract:

This article reports the synthesis of zinc oxide and cadmium oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs & CdO-NPs) by a simple, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly method using zinc(II) and cadmium(II) ions and ovalbumin which was freshly extracted from egg white in an aqueous medium. The structure of zinc and cadmium nanoparticles were obtained by calcining the precursors in air at 500°C, for 2 h. the nano structures were characterized by X-ray diffraction measurements (XRD). The average crystallite size of NPs were calculated using XRD pattern and confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Also, the antimicrobial activity of ZnO-NPs & CdO-NPs were studied in this work. The results indicated that fresh protein media is an interesting material that can be used as a stabilizer in the sol–gel processes for preparing ZnO&CdO-NPs.
