Abstract:

This review summarizes evidence for the effectiveness and suitability of technology use in foreign language (FL) learning and teaching, with a focus on empirical studies that compare the use of newer technologies with more traditional methods. The review of studies revealed that, computer instruction can affect and improve pronunciation skills. It also provides strong support for the claim that technology makes a measurable impact on FL learning as indicated by studies on computer-assisted pronunciation training, in particular, software instruction. These studies demonstrated that using software can facilitate the improvement of pronunciation and can provide feedback effectively. The literature also revealed that many research that have been done on the effect of computer based instruction and benefit of new technologies in as a tool for teaching materials till date
