Abstract:
This study was conducted to find out the types of teaching pronunciation techniques used by Iranian EFL teachers across different personality styles. To this end, following an online survey a cohort of 60 male and female teachers outof 200 participated in this study. Based on the results of Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) questionnaire, the teacherswere classified into introvert and extrovert groups. Then, a checklist adapted from Hismanoglua and Hismanoglua(2011) and Celce-Murcia et al. (1996) was used to identify their mostly favored techniques of teaching pronunciation.The results of descriptive analysis indicated that from among nineteen pronunciation teaching techniques, listen and imitate and reading aloud and recitation were the most frequent ones used by both introverted and extroverted teachers.Listen and imitate and read aloud/recitation were used most by introverts, On the other hand, instructional technologywas the only technique that none of the introverted teachers tended to use at all. However, extrovert teachers tended toselect Listen and imitate and Visual aids more. Recording of learners’ production was one of the techniques that the extroverted teachers did not use at all
