Abstract:
A novel monoazo disperse dye containing of N-methyl-1,8-naphthalimide group was synthesized. Acenaphthene as a starting material was converted to final dye through several chemical processes such as nitration, oxidation, imidation, reduction, diazotization and coupling. All intermediates and dye were purified by recrystalization and column chromatography method. The purified product was characterized by 1H-NMR, FTIR, UV-VIS. The synthesized dye was dispersed in water containing dispersing agent and applied to polyester fabrics. The dyed fabrics showed that, it was suitable for coloring polyester fibers, producing deep violet with good fastness properties
