Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the rate of interest and the attitude of people for selecting a wedding invitation card discourse considering two variables of marital status (attitude of single people and attitude of married ones) and gender (male and female). The present study analy2ed linguistic and non-linguistic genres. Linguistic component consist of literature, humorous, Arabic word and poetic structure inside discourse text and non-linguistic component consist of invitation card appearance and script. Sixty-four men and women of different occupations and levels of educations in Isfahan participated in this study and a questionnaire with 21 items was used for the purpose of research. The participants were divided into four groups consist of single male, single female, married male and married female. Linear regression with two variables and paired sample T- test procedure s were run to compare the means of each group. The finding s showed that different reasons affect the wedding invitation card discourse selection such as gender and marital status of people, also results indicated that people attention to the culture and thoughts of their family can affect such selection like the religion and ethical background of the family. The analysis of the questionnaires revealed that generally people prefer to choose formal style more than informal one but the attractiveness of informal style is more. Moreover, most people are interested in simple scripts than calligraphy and tend to use Arabic words in the text of invitation card.
