Abstract:

Gas and electricity are closely dependent as essential sources in human life. In other words, some parts of required power can be produces from gas network and extra produced power can be used as a contribution for gas grid. Besides, rapidly increasing penetration of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in power systems due to the their advantages in technology and environmental issues make it necessary to do an optimal shceduling of the system regarding PEVs. Hence, this paper presents an economic dispatch of coupled gas and electricity grids incorporating pure electric vehicles. The optimum power generation of thermal units, bus voltage angle, transmission active power, electrical demand of each load bus, the wind generation of each wind farm, pressure in the nodes, and gas generation of units are selected as decision variables. Simulations are conducted on integrated IEEE 24-bus electric power system and Belgian high-calorific 20-node natural gas system. Also, three wind farms are added to electric network for considering the wind power impact on scheduling. The problem is stated as a mixed intiger non-linear programming which is solved under generalized algebraic mathematical modeling system (GAMS) optimization package using COUENNE and CONOPT solvers to minimize the operating cost of generators participating for supplying the demand over a 24-hour time interval and make the charging and discharging decisions of PEVs.
