Comprehensive review of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants of Iran, in terms of Number, Processes, Capacities, Disadvantages

The major focus of this report is the description and critical analysis of the urban wastewater treatment processes in Iran. In term of coverage around 28 percent of sewage generated in Iran is treated and 211 WWTP has built in Iran up to 2019. 50.8 percent of the population of Iran s 82 million people are covered by the municipal sewage collection system, but 55 percent (28 percent of the total population) of this amount have a municipal sewage treatment system. Due the diverse climate condition in Iran, there are no limitation for the adoption of biological sewage treatment.
