Abstract:

Colors are organic compounds with a complex, toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic and nondegradablebiological structure and one of the most important wastewater pollutants in textileIndustries. The montmorillonite-chitosan composite could provide hydrophobicity and functionalgroups to enhance the performances of montmorillonite in wastewater treatment. Thecomposites showed good abilities to remove the pollutant, such as heavy metals and dyes. Inthis work, montmorillonite was modified with Chitosan with the purpose of synthesizing multifunctionaladsorbents to adsorb hydrophobic organic contaminants, heavy metal cations, anddyes from water [1]. Montmorillonite was modified with different amounts of chitosan to obtainchitosan/montmorillonite bio nanocomposites (CSMMT) which the sodium ions inmontmorillonite layers are replaced by chitosan. The structural and surface characteristics ofthe raw materials and bio-nanocomposites were analyzed. XPS results showed that the obtainedbionanocomposites had MMT-rich surfaces with chitosan essentially intercalated in thehost clay galleries [2,3]. We have observed in our methods and with compared to MWCNT,That The obtained results suggested that C/T-Mt could be a multi-functional adsorbent for theeffective up take of different types of contaminants from water.
