Abstract:
In this paper, the detailed studies regarding the reforming of n-heptane on supported Pt composite catalysts were reported. The performance of these catalysts with the level of coke laid down on the surface measured by TGA were investigated. The coke formation during the n-heptane reforming results mainly from catalytic reactions. The results indicate that the presence of coke reduces isomerization/cracking and favors hydrogenolysis. The Pt/HZSM5-HMS catalyst produces much faster coke lay-down, and, in turn, this gives higher selectivity to the aromatic products in a much shorter time on stream. Consideration is given to the nature of the species responsible for the coking of the catalyst.
