Abstract:

In order to Complementary efficacy evaluation of Lumax (Mesotrion+ Smetolacholor+ Terbuthlazine) in control of weeds in corn, a set of field studies were conducted in 2009 at 6 province of Iran, including Tehran (Varamin), Fars (Zarghan), Khuzestan (Ahvaz), Khorasan Razavi (Mashhad), Ardabil (Moghan) and Kermansh. Treatments were arranged in a RCBD design with four replications. Treatments consisted of Ultima (Nicosulfuron+Nimsulfuron), Lumax (Mesotrion+SMetolacholor+ Terbuthlazine), Rimsulfuron (Titus), Nicosulfuron (Cruz), Foramsulfuron (Equio), EPTC, 2, 4-D plus MCPA and weed free. To evaluate the effects of treatments, different characteristics including percent damage based on EWRC scores, percent weed population reduction, percent weed dry mater reduction (separately for each weeds species) at 30 days after spraying and grain yield were measured. According to the result, Lumax (4.5 L/ha as post emergence) could control the Physalis alkekengi L., Chenopodium album L., Cleome viscose L., Hibiscus trionum L, Echinochloa crus- galli L. and Amaranthus blitoides S. Watson. more than 85% and also controlled Datura stramonium L., Portulaca oleracea L. and Setaria viridis L. more than 75%. This treatment also could not control Glycyrrhiza glabra L. and Sorghum halepense (L.) pers.. In general, due to the risk of herbicide resistance, especially about the ALS herbicide that have registered recently for corn fields, when the target weeds are not Glycyrrhiza glabra L. and Sorghum halepense (L.), Lumax (4.5 L/ha as post emergence) is a recommendable herbicide that is safer than ALS herbicides.
