Abstract:

To identify superior genotypes for grain yield in compare to check genotypes in target regions and utilizing farmers' experience and indigenous knowledge in selecting superior genotypes and also their participation in breeding program, this project was conducted on three rainfed farmers' field in different regions of Kermanshah province, west Iran ,i.e. Dalahoo, Ravansar, Sarfirooz Abad. Twenty bread wheat genotypes were compared with Azar-2 and Owhadi (14-GB) cultivars and 4 advanced checks, i.e. Pato, Shi No.4414iCROWS"//UNKNOWN ,Booma -2 and PLBW-SARA-66 . The trials were un-replicated and plots size were 6m by 1.5m with 6 rows 20 cm apart. Each region considered as a replication and finally grain yield of genotypes analyzed as RCBD design. At maturity stage farmers asked to evaluate the genotypes and give score 5 to the best and 1 to the worst genotype and at the end genotypes were compared based on rank test of grain yield and farmers' score in each region to identify genotypes with the best specific adaptation. Also, average grain yield and farmers' score for all the locations were used to identify genotypes for general adaptation. To identify genotypes superior for both grain yield and farmers' score, we used rank sum test. Moreover, grain yield and farmers' score were analyzed in GGE Biplot software to evaluate the genotypes performance graphically and to compare rank test with graphical result of this software. At this study, result of rank test and GGE Biplot analysis were almost the same. In all the three location, genotypes 21 (Pato), 5 , 10 , 26( Azar-2) and 10 for average rank of GY and genotypes 8,21, 20, 19 and 10 for average rank of FS were the 5 top genotypes. Considering sum rank of GY and FS, genotypes 21 and 10 were the two- top genotypes respectively and 20,8,5 got rank of 3 and genotypes 23 and 25 had 4th and 5th rank. Based on the rank some of GY and FS in all locations, genotypes 5,8,10,20 and 21 ( Pato), 22, 24,25,26 ( Azar2) were chosen to be planted in bigger plots ( 1.5m X 18m) for seed multiplication and further evaluation in next cropping season( 2009-2010).
