Abstract:

In Iran, wooden vessels are made by traditional methods. Although during many years, vessels found optimized body lines to the consumption cases, but almost all the vessels are entitled to poor technology of construction. Parts are not fitting with the necessary strenght and the use of larger needed dimentions section (over size) are very common. Porter member distant such as frame to compensate the weakness of the connection parts and boost confidence coefficient is much less than the standard rate and need. Although relying on one types of wood in construction parts such as planking with Teak (Tectona grands), framing with Babul (Acasia arabica), was and is a wrong belief among makers and fishers, the restriction of their context in some cases is the reason of using some alternative woods. In this research, the question has been answered is how can we use different types of woods to construct wooden vessels observing reasonable and necessary coefficient? . Eucalyptus wood for making frames, beams, bulkheads column and other smal pieces by using corrective coefficients action, is appropiate. In case of Glu-lam with using water resistance glue, beam, bulkhead column, stringer, keel, keelson, stem and knee can be produced. Due to high shrinkage , this wood is not suitable for hull and deck planking Key word: wooden vessel, Eucalyptus wood, laminated wood.
