Abstract:

‭The target of this investigation has been the utilization of com stalk in Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) production. Therefore with com stalk and three press temperatures of 16~ 175and 185 C and three press times of 3, 3.5and 4 minutes employed and 271aboratory boards produced. The mechanical and physical properties of boards have been measured and the results have been analized. The results indicated that press temperatures and press time did not have nsignificantly effect on MOR of boards, but with increasing press temperature and press time, the MOE of boards improved and the highest MOE of boards observed in press temperatures of 185 C and press time of 4 minute. The results indicated that the internal bonding (IB) of boards increased with increasing press time, and the highest IB of boards related to boards produced with 3.5md 4 minutes of press times..Also the results indicated that the press time had significantly. effect on thickness swelling after 2 and 24 houres immersion in water of boards, and the lowest of thickness swelling of boards observed in produced boards with 3.5 minutes of press time that this result has harmony with the highest IB in same condition.. Generally we can say by using com stalk as raw materials for producing standard Medium Density Fiberboard would be possible. ‬ص ‭ Key words: Medium Density Fiberboard, Com stalk Press temperature, Press time, Physical and mechanical properties‬
