Wettability is a fundamental property of reservoirrocks, and many factors, like rock type, reservoir fluid composition,pore geometry and pore size distribution of rock, and reservoirtemperature and pressure can be effective on it. In general cleansandstone or quartz is extremely water-wet, sandstone reservoir rockis usually found to be intermediate-wet. Carbonates are believed tobe oil-wet. Contact angle for the systems studied increased withpressure, increased with temperature for sandstone system anddecreased with temperature for carbonate system. The water salinityhas a significant impact on the rock wettability. This impact is afunction of rock mineralogy and temperature. Varying aqueoussolutionpH affects the wettability of rock surfaces.
