Distribution Networks Expansion Planning by Using Genetic Algorithm with Adaptive Chromosomes Considering the Value of Lost Load abstract

The real economic benefits of reliability improvement and prevention of interruptions in power supply, attracts many researchers' attention. In this paper, reliability indices of distribution networks components are evaluated by using the data recorded in Distribution Company of Tehran in order to analyze the influences of this crucial issues on the distribution networks expansion planning. In addition, based on these indices, distribution network expansion planning from techno-economic perspective is done. In other words, the cost of weak reliability such as power supply interruption and energy not supplied have been modeled in the planning procedure.Considering this cost along with other costs, helps the operators to find the best distribution network expansion plan from more realistic point of view. Moreover, by adding the value of lost load as an index to the planning process, which is one of the most important costs associated with reliability, the importance of this index and its effects on the results especially in terms of using doubletransformer substations are examined and illustrated
