Abstract:
In this paper, a novel auxiliary system is designed to improve the performance of a two-degree-of-freedom galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvesting system (2DGPEH). In doing so, first a conventional 2DGPEH system is simulated. To improve the efficiency of this system, two objectives are investigated including onset speed of galloping and the harvested power. Then, due to the fact that an efficient 2DGPEH system should have low onset speed of galloping and generate high electrical power, a novel auxiliary system is put forward. Af-ter that, to improve the enhancement of the novel model, the effect of different parameters of the system including electrical resistance and mechanical properties on the two mentioned objectives is investigated and the proper values of each parameter is obtained. Finally, it is demonstrated that adding a proper auxiliary system to the conventional 2DGPEH system in wind speed of 4.5 m/s can increase the generated power about 48 percent which is a remark-able enhancement
