Abstract:

In this work, two nanostructures of cerium oxide were synthesized by hydrothermal method with different concentrations of urea as surfactants. The effect of concentration of urea was evaluated on optical characterizations of nanostructures. We studied on optical, structural and morphological properties, with characterizations such as Ultraviolet–Visible spectroscopy (UVVis), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM)respectively. Our results showed that two samples have single-phase crystallinity and increasing the concentration of urea caused to form nanocubes whereas low concentration of urea produced agglomerated nanoparticles. Furthermore, the extinction coefficient and refractive index has beenincreased by increasing the concentration of urea
