Abstract:

During recent decades, scholars has put the emphasis on the study of non-linear seismic responses of soil-structure systems. The investigated system can be divided into the inner region and outer region. The former shows non-linear behaviour and consists of the structure, the underlying soil that is near the foundation of the structure and the contact surface between the structure and the soil. The latter is the outside of the inner region and is considered to be linear to infinity[۱]. The non-linearity in the inner region contains the material non-linearity and, the sliding and separation that may take place along the interface during strong earthquakes. The partial sliding and separation on the interface of soil and structure cause stress concentration and make it easier for the soil to yield. It is necessary to
