Abstract:

Genetic Algorithm (GA), with its evolutionary global optimization essence, has become a very attractive engineering tool in recent years especially in the field of earthquake engineering. One of the most interesting problems in this field is active structural control under seismic excitations. Based on the need for development of the robust simple algorithms for active/hybrid control, a computer simulation software has been prepared for studying different attributes of a proposed GA-based active/hybrid structural controller. In this paper, first the basic idea for using GA in the control algorithm is described. Next, ۵ set of analyses has been performed on BEES new building due two input earthquake records as benchmark problem. The dynamic properties of the structure that was obtained from forced vibration test, used as the problem inputs. Finally, discussion has been made on the analytical results and the performance of the control algorithm has been declared as a conclusion
