INDIVIDUATION OF VULNERABILITY SOURCES FOR MASONRY BUILDINGS ON THE OCCASION OF THE SEPTEMBER ۲۶, ۱۹۹۷ U۱ ۱BRIA-MARCHES (ITALY) EARTHQUAKE

The present paper illustrates results of a survey, carried out through an inspection on field, relating to the evaluation and interpretation of damages suffered by masonry constructions not provided with aseismic measures on the occasion of the double seismic event of Umbria and Marches, Central Italy, of September ۲۶, ۱۹۹۷. The survey, after pointing out the most frequent damage scenarios concerning costructions of the inspected zones, ascertains main vulnerability factors connected to them, factors attributable to the specific architectonic-structural characteristics of each building. On the basis of the survey outcomes, design directions for structural strenghtening and retrofitting are finally pointed out
