Relationship between Economic and Transportation Infrastructure Indicators and Freight Productivity Growth abstract
This study strives to examine the relationship between truck transportation productivity growth and economic indicators, and also, introduces a transportation infrastructure indicator for seven states in the Upper Midwest in the U.S. The study uses public data sources of economic activity for the year to , and transportation indicator for . Based on the past works that explored similar theme, a truck transportation productivity measure is defined. The relationship between economic indicators, including employment, and GDP, and congestion, as a transportation indicator, are examined using descriptive statistics, maps, crude statistical analysis, and three case studies in the study area.
