Consequence Modeling of an Accident in Propane Storage Tank abstract
Chemical accidents are becoming more common with increasing industrialization and the widespread use of chemicals. They can have adverse effects on life, assets and environment if the proper relationship with safety is ignored .This is the importance of analyzing the consequences of the risks involved in chemical and industrial industries and units. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the consequences of accidents and case studies in a spherical propane storage tank in Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company (B.I.P.C). For better risk assessment, a consequence modeling is introduced (used) using PHAST software. This software calculates the evaporation of materials, the concentration and level of radiation and explosions. In this study, a possible failure scenario including leakage from the tank surface is studied. In the present study, a detailed analysis suggests the necessary and important results that can include the minimum safe distance from the accident center for the fire and explosion threshold
