Sustainable Fashion: A Development Strategy in the Iranian Apparel Industry

Today, there are certain organizations that try to create and increase opportunities for "sustainable fashion" designers, and the National Association of Sustainable Fashion Designers is one of these organizations. Since the purpose of such organizations is to help entrepreneurs in this field to grow environmentally friendly fashions, culture, guidance and community awareness in this direction and they also train sustainable fashion designers and increase their access to the tools and industrial resources theyneed to promote creative, innovative and effective businesses in this field. It also creates changes in Society by providing a job-related design and fashion market through educating individuals, creating programs that nurture this new industry, and contributing to its sustainability and economic growth. Therefore, considering that the fashion industry is very young and new industry in our country, many of its dimensions, including sustainable fashion, still remain intact. The tools used to collect information, including library resources, documents, reputable websites, reports of foreign articles, have examined the status of sustainable clothing production. In general, the results of the present study showed that the knowledge and awareness of clothing consumers about sustainable fashion and the benefits of using environmentally friendly clothing is the most important factor in this regard. In the present study, an attempt has been made to provide solutions for the development of a sustainable clothing industry, support for small and creative workshops, increase consumer awareness and education in order to prevent consumerism and protect environmental resources.
