Removal Co2+ from Aqueous Solutions by Maghemite Nanoparticles Modified by EDTA abstract

EDTA modified maghemite nanoparticles (EMMNPs) were prepared and characterized by SEM and XRD, measurements. The modified nanoparticles used to the removal of Co2+ from water samples.Theinfluences of different parameters including initial pH, dosage of adsorbent, amount of surfactant and contact time were, investigated in order to find the optimum conditions. Co2+ became adsorbed at pH 6. The adsorbed Co2+was then desorbed and determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The experimental data were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlichadsorption models. It was shown that the sorbent can remove 97.9 % of the Co2+ within the first 30 min of contact time.
