Abstract:
Springback is a very common and critical phenomenon in sheet metal forming operations, which is caused by the elastic redistribution of the internal stresses after the removal of deforming forces. Springback compensation is absolutely essential for the accurate geometry of sheet metal components. This paper presents a finite element model to simulate the V Bending process of a ۱mm thick stainless steel workpiece in order to analyze the effects of punch radius on the amount of springback in this process. The simulation is ran for several punch radius and the results suggest that the smaller the punch radius the less springback accurse during the process
