Abstract:
The Khosrowshahr landslide, in north of Khosrowshahr region of northwestern Iran, likely has been triggered by catastrophic historic/prehistoric earthquakes. The landslide area with very gentle slope (~ ۲۰°) to relatively steep slope (~ ۴۰°) is underlain by Neogene alternation of tuffs, marls and sandstones with intercalations of thin bedded diatomites. The geomorphological features indicate that Khosrowshahr landslide, where the slope of the region is low, is a lateral spread, and where the slope of the area is relatively steep, is a rockfall. The head scarp of this landslide is near vertical, with maximum height of ~ ۶ m.
