Abstract:

River water quality modeling is applied as a useful and powerful tool to prediction of contaminant transport and effective environmental management of rivers. In this paper the effect of uncertainties of kdcs, the temperature-dependent fast CBOD oxidation rate, wind speed an river flow rate were investigated on dissoloved oxygen concentration by using QUAL2Kw model. For this reason, the Zarjoob River water quality model was developed on 24 kilometers of it. The river receives eleven major municipal raw wastewater tributaries along this reach. The input data was collected from the six sampling stations during three months of 2005 (August to October). The developed model was calibrated using the data of the first month and then verified with the data of two other months. The sensitivity analysis showed that the model was highly sensitive to river flow rate and has a weak sensitivity to wind speed
