Abstract:

Sugars are the most important and cheapest source of energy. ۹۰% of the energy of poor countries and ۵۰% of the energy of rich countries is provided by sugar resources. ۵۰ to ۷۰% of daily calories are provided by eating sugary foods. Carbohydrates are the most important energy producing part of our daily diet. We all need carbohydrates to survive and be in good physical condition. But the need of athletes for carbohydrates is very important, the value of carbohydrates in the nutrition of athletes is important in the sense that the fuel needed by muscles during exercise comes from carbohydrates stored in the body, which is in the form of glycogen. Therefore, it is very important to know how, how much and when an athlete consumes carbohydrates in order to have enough energy during training. By reading this article, you will see the importance of consuming carbohydrates in athletes. Carbohydrates are made up of simple sugars that are linked together to form larger sugars. Simple sugars are sucrose or sugar and lactose or milk sugar and maltose, and complex sugars are starch, glycogen and dietary fibers. The best way to use carbohydrates is to consume the right amount from each of these groups. If the consumption of carbohydrates is limited to simple sugars such as sugar and sweets, it will have adverse effects on the athlete, especially in the hours before the competition. Therefore, in this article, we will examine carbohydrate metabolism during exercise.
