Abstract:

In this study, a facile method was described for decoration of multi-walled carbon nanotubes with platinum nanoparticles through a Preyssler-structured polyoxometalate (POM). Acidic form of Preyssler (H۱۴[NaP۵W۳۰O۱۱۰]) was utilized in the synthesis of stable colloidal platinum nanoparticles and also in linking the NPs to CNTs at mild temperature. On using Preyssler, Pt۴+ ions were reduced which subsequently led to the formation of nanoparticles with an average size of ۱۳ nm. Afterwards, NPs were uniformly attached to the surface of CNTs with a loading amount of ~۰.۱۰ g/g. At these reactions, there is no need for any other contributing agent. The prepared samples were characterized by particle size distribution, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and UV/Vis spectroscopy.
