Abstract:

The present investigation is conducted to fabricate three different ۴-layers walls with varyinginputs of heat using the wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) process. In addition, somewalls' heat input has descended from the first layer to the top layer. The present study aimed toevaluate the effect of variable heat input of each wall/layer on the microstructure of low-carbonalloy steel (ER۷۰S-۶) produced by a relatively inexpensive additive manufacturing processusing wire feed arc welding. Microstructure studies show that reducing heat input causes ahigher solidification rate and the formation of finer columnar grains.
