A survey on promising starch-based and wax-in-water based methods for Janus graphene oxide nanosheets synthesis abstract

The use of polymeric membranes in filtration processes and various industrial treatments such as waste water treatment, has attracted the world’s attention. Thus, fabrication of membranes with high separation performance is an extremely important subject. The use of additives in membrane structure has always been a popular approach of improving membrane performance. in this study, Janus graphene oxide nanosheets have been studied as an important membrane additive. In this paper, two different practical methods for synthesis of Janus graphene oxide nanosheets have been reviewed and compared. Three essential tests (SEM, FTIR and Raman) have been reviewed for both methods. The results have shown that synthesis of appropriate Janus graphene oxide nanosheets is possible in both methods, although the starch-based method is more environment-friendly than the wax-in-water method.
