Abstract:

Abstract--In transient conditions, the wind farm must be robust against disturbances facing power quality problems, such as voltage sags, unbalances, etc. it is necessary to prevent power deviation, voltage collapse and increase the reliability in system with high wind power penetration. This paper presents the application of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) in the wind farm interconnected to the power system. The UPQC controller based on fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is applied to improve the operation of the squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) wind turbine, significantly. The UPQC based on FLC has been compared with conventional UPQC; it has fast dynamic response and regulates the voltage of point of common coupling (PCC) and smooth rotor speed of the SCIG. The simulations carried out by using Matlab/Simulink, and it verifies the high efficiency of UPQC controller based on FLC.
