Applying Combined Origin -Destination & Route Choices Model to Tehran abstract
The aim of this paper was to apply the Combined Origin-Destination and Route Choice Model (CODRCM) to the urban transportation network of metropolis of Tehran and compared the results of it with User-Equilibrium Route Choice Model (UERCM) in Sequential Approach as well known forecasting method in urban transportation modeling. To implement CODRCM, at first it had to reformulate it as an Equivalent Minimization Problem (EMP). Extended Evans algorithm used to obtain solutions for the EMP. Furthermore the dispersion parameter of CODRCM calibrated based on real observed Origin-Destination (O-D) data. In UERCM, the observed O-D was used to assign traffic on transportation network. The comparison of two models was based on observed link flow and iterations as yardsticks. The result verified the better performance of CODRCM while it intended for travel forecasting practice.
