Abstract:

In the present research, a novel power generation systembased on gas turbine and supercritical carbon dioxidecycle is introduced and analyzed from energy, exergy,exergo-economic, and environmental perspectives. Thesystem investigated in this study consists of sub-systemsof supercritical carbon dioxide cycle, gas turbine, andorganic Rankine cycle. The proposed power plantutilizes two independent energy sources, so that in theabsence of the performance of one of the energysources, the other source is available to generateelectrical power, and therefore, there will be stablepower production in the system. Also, in the currentresearch, a multi-objective optimization with exergyefficiency, unit exergy cost of electricity, and carbondioxide emission index as the objective functions isperformed. The case study results reveal that the firstand second law efficiencies, the unit exergy cost ofelectricity, the carbon dioxide emission index, and thepayback period are equal to ۴۱.۵۳%, ۵۴.۰۸%, ۱۵.۱۹$/GJ, ۰.۱۱۱۶ kg/kWh, and ۸.۰۸۱ years, respectively. The results of the parametric study show that with theincrease in the sCO۲ compressor pressure ratio, the netgenerated power and first and second law efficienciesfirst increase and then decrease, and the unit exergy costof electricity and carbon dioxide emission index firstdecrease and then increase. Also, increasing the gasturbine inlet temperature causes the first and second lawefficiencies to increase.
