Abstract:

The propellant processing as a high-filled composite material is a very important and serious subject,which involves mixing, casting and curing of the propellant. The most important parameter affectingpropellant processing is the viscosity of the binder system. on the other hand, the viscosity of the bindersystem is strongly influenced by the microstructural parameters of the prepolymer, so by controlling themicrostructural parameters, the propellant processing can be easily optimized. In this article, acomprehensive overview of the effect of these parameters on the viscosity of the binder system, or inother words, the processing of the propellant, has been tried to be expressed in a simple way. The resultsshow that hydroxyl functionality and vinyl isomer content have the greatest effect on the viscosity of thebinder system based on HTPB.
