Abstract:

Today with respect to rising growth of population and in contrast to scarcity of land, urban design trend hasbeen moved vertically and this is done for resolving some of aforesaid problems, especially to respond todisplacement of a very great size of population that takes place for various reasons including immigration tothe metropolises. High-rise construction is assumed as a solution which is employed for this purpose. On theother hand, need to energy resources is deemed as integrated part of today life, but due to restriction of fossilfuels which are followed by created pollutions, it leads human’ tendency toward using recoverable and cleanenergies. Sustainability is an approach that has emerged from such a modified attitude of human concerningthe world. Following to proposing serious environmental problems e.g. pollutions, rising temperature onearth planet and destruction of natural resources accordingly and with respect to importance of sustainabilitysubject in high-rise buildings, we have analyzed the foremost properties designated for these buildings insome of residential works built by Ken Yeang (Malaysian architect) and housing towers in Iran in this study.The present research has been conducted by descriptive analytical method and using librarian and documentarytools as means and as a case study and at the end we have classified the findings into two generalgroups i.e. principles of sustainable architecture and green architecture used in residential towers.
