A study on the functional role of corridor for forest ecological restoration in landscape scale abstract
Maintaining the integrity and sustainability of ecosystem based on principle and theory of ecology leads to reduction and improvement of the impacts caused by human activities on diversity and dynamicity of local ecosystems. Among every integrated environmental model, Forest is considered as one of the most important ecosystems whose ecological restoration is achievable by connecting them with suitable corridors. The 36200 ha of forest located at north of Iran is taken under investigation in order to evaluate the role of corridors in landscape scale. 56 patches with approximate area of 228 ha recognized suitable for establishing corridors. Moreover, the forms of landscape in Iranian under-investigation northern forests obtained as central with scattered paths. Giving priority to factors such as being close to rivers and away from roads and suitability of each patch, total area of 62 ha. Was considered suitable for establishing the ecological corridors.
