Abstract:

DC-DC converters play a vital role in the transition from fossil fuel-based power systems to Sustainable Renewable Energy Systems (SRES). The photovoltaic solar power is one of the promising sources of renewable energies. The DC-DC converters support the two important purposes of maximum power point tracking and regulation of DC-link voltage in PV systems. The high voltage gain, simple topology, desirable controllability, high efficiency, low number of elements, low voltage stress on semiconductor devices and finally, cost-effective structure are the major important evaluation criteria in design and implementation of DC-DC converters. In this paper, high step-up non-isolated DC-DC converter is proposed for the PV power system, where the high step-up dc-dc converters are required to boost the low voltage of PV panels to high voltage. The composition of modified Switched Inductor Cell (MSIC) and Switched Capacitor Cell (SCC) is used to increase the output voltage gain of converter. Moreover, the single-switch structure of the proposed converter helps to a simple implementation of control algorithms. The voltage stress on semiconductor power switch is reduced to the half of output voltage and therefore the cost of the converter is more affordable. The simulation results are given to verify the aforementioned characteristics and theoretical analysis in continuous current mode operation of converter.
