Abstract:

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a condition that impacts over than ۵۰% of the global population. According to currently researches on topical green tea in the prevention and regrowth of hair, this plant may be a suitable and relatively reliable alternative to chemical drugs such as minoxidil and finasteride. Green tea contains polyphenol compounds called catechins. Catechins have significant anti-hair loss due to effect on the dermal papillae cells (DPCs), that they are specialized fibroblasts that control the hair growth cycles. This article reviews the potential effect of green tea (Camellia sinensis) in reducing hair loss, hair regrowth, and its particular effect on dermal papillae.
