A New Wide Area Islanding Protection Scheme By Using PMU abstract

This paper presents a new wide area islanding protection method with negligible non-detection zone (NDZ). The Principle of the proposed method is based on the absolute variation and difference of positive sequence voltage angles (PSVA) measured by PMUs, at the DG terminal bus and the closest bus to the DG. The new technique is suitable for using in wide area protection and measurement technology. This newly proposed technique has been verified by using the radial distribution network including a wind turbine equipped with a squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG). The simulations are done in SIMULINK/MATLAB software.
