Abstract:
In this research, the behavior of reinforced concrete structure with steel bracing against earthquake is evaluated. Using Abaqus software and the method based on IDA analysis, different scenarios including the combination of reinforced concrete frames with steel bracings in ۵, ۱۰ and ۱۵-story structures, being affected by the Kobe and Northridge earthquakes, were investigated. The results showed that with increasing in the height of the structure, the effect of the steel bracings also decreases, and as a result, the amount of lateral displacement increases. In general, the impact of the Kobe earthquake is greater than the Northridge earthquake, but the Northridge earthquake has a significant effect at high altitudes of the structure. In the structures of ۵, ۱۰ and ۱۵ floors, the lateral displacement for the kobe earthquake is equal to ۹.۹, ۱۳ and ۱۶ percent and for the Northridge earthquake is ۱.۵, ۳.۶ and ۴۰ percent compared to the base conditions under investigation. It was also found that steel bracings have more lateral changes than other protection methods due to their lower ductility, therefore, among the common forms of this system, the use of the coaxial method (V-bracing, Inverted V-bracing and diagonal) or external braces has more suitable conditions in the internal energy state of the frame.
