Confinement of RC columns with different reinforcement and strengthened with FRP abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the confinement of columns. In order to achieve this goal, 25 specimens were constructed and different methods of reinforcement were investigated. In addition, in order to investigate the effect of FRP on confinement of reinforced concrete columns, the behavior of reinforced concrete columns strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) was investigated. The results showed that the compressive strength of the specimens with longitudinal reinforcement (Ctrl-Vertical bar) and circular hoops (Ctrl-Spiral) was increased compared to the concrete specimen. Furthermore, it was also proved that CFRP wrapping dramatically improved compressive strength and ductility.
