A Numerical Study on Structural Performance of HSFGB Shear Connector in Composite Beam abstract
Demountable high-strength friction-grip bolts (HSFGB) as a novel shear connector in composite beams made of precast concrete slabs and steel beam are consistent with sustainable construction. Since the behavior of the shear connector has a significant effect on the strength and stiffness of composite beams, it is necessary to evaluate the performance and resistance of this demountable shear connector. Accordingly, in this paper, the three-dimension finite element (3D FE) push-out model of the composite connection with the HSFGB shear connector is developed and verified via experimental results to predict the load-slip behavior and failure modes of the HSFGB shear connector. The nonlinearities of the materials and geometry, as well as the interface between the components, were properly considered in the numerical modelling. Then sensitivity analysis was organized using the models that had been validated. During this investigation, all the factors influencing the strength of HSFGB connectors were considered. It was demonstrated that the developed numerical model accurately simulates the behavior of the demountable composite connection at both the local and global levels
