Abstract:
Vibration-based damage identification using wavelet transforms has come into focus due to its ability to overcome noise and provide results that are more reliable. Proposing varioustechniques to localize the damage site in the structures using wavelet transforms in conjunction with time or spatial vibration data, authors have proved that this state-of-the-art signalprocessing method is utilitarian and practical. In this paper, two techniques, called generalizedflexibility matrix (GFM) and uniform load surface (ULS), are used in conjunction with wavelet transform to find the location of the crack in a plate-type structure. GFM and ULS,which have been developed from flexibility matrix, are privileged in terms of lower participatingof higher order modes in comparison to original flexibility method. A plate structure is considered as a numerical case study and various damages with different sizes and locationsare induced. Two aforementioned flexibility based methods in conjunction with Symlet wavelet transform are utilized. Final outcomes present the location of damage
