Abstract:

Dyslexia with a prevalence of ۴-۹% is one of the most common neurological-developmental disorders that continues throughout a person's life and interferes with his academic and professional success. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on reading skills and working memory in dyslexic children. For this purpose, the sample group included ۳۰ children with dyslexia who were randomly selected after screening, include scoring less than ۷۱ in APRA test, as well as a psychiatrist diagnosis. Sample group was divided into two groups of ۱۵ children. The criteria for entering the research sample were the presence of normal vision and hearing, not suffering from mental retardation and ADHD. The experimental groupe were subjected to ۱۲ sessions intervention with tDCS and control group receive sham stimulation. The results of the MANCOVA statistical test showed that tDCS significantly improves APRA and working memory in children with dyslexia. These results show that the use of tDCS can be useful for improving the problems resulting from defects in the functioning of working memory and also in improving the reading skills of children with dyslexia.
