A new polypyrrole and α-polyoxometalate composite sensor: electrochemical monitoring of folic acid in supplement and human blood serum samples abstract

The electrochemical behavior of folic acid at α-polyoxometalate/polypyrrole (POM/PPy)composite sensor was investigated. Cyclic voltammetry technique has been used for theelectropolymerization of α-polyoxometalate entrapped polypyrrole composite thin film on the gold (Au) electrode. In comparison to bare Au electrode and Au/PPy the Au/POM/PPymodified electrode exhibited excellent catalytic activity for the oxidation of folic acid inphysiological PH solutions at reduced overpotential. The composite electrode was applied for determination of folic acid using square-wave voltammetry(SWV) technique in the range 1-44ng/mL with detection limit of 0.12 ngmL-1. Additionally, it is promising for the monitoring of folic acid in supplement and human blood serum samples
