Thickness measurement of single layer sheets by ultrasonic waves and finite element simulation abstract

The advancement of technology and devices used in industry and daily life, the use of ultrasound waves has become very impressive. Now in the industry, ultrasonic waves are used for fault diagnosis of parts and welds, and in this article we will discuss the thickness measurement of thin sheets with ultrasonic waves. Past researchers used ultrasonic to check the thickness of tank walls and introduced ultrasonic waves as a powerful tool for fault diagnosis and accurate thickness measurement. In this article, we work on the thickness measurement of single-layer sheets and examine the parameters of various probes, such as normal and bi-crystal projects, the frequency parameter and the crystal parameter of the probe, and the change in the thickness of the part. Our goal in this project is the effect of part dimensions, probe frequency, probe type and probe characteristics in thickness measurement using an ultrasonic device. In this research, Abaqus software was used to simulate ultrasonic waves in a single-layer sheet, the results of which are given in this research. At the end, the results obtained from the finite element method have been compared with practical results
