A simple one-pot three component synthetic method was reported for the preparation of 2,4,5- triaryl substituted imidazole from benzil, aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate under solventfree conditions in the presence of ZSM-5-SO3H as catalyst. ZSM-5 has been modified as supportedsulfuric acid (ZSM-5-SO3H) and introduced for the first time as a mild, convenient, reusable, and heterogeneous catalyst for this reaction.
