Abstract:

The mining industry faces numerous challenges, including ensuring sustainable resource extraction, balancing economic growth with social development, and addressing environmental concerns. In this article, we propose a comprehensive framework for the management of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental sustainability in the mining sector. Our framework aims to integrate CSR principles into mining companies' business practices to ensure responsible resource extraction and contribute positively to the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the regions in which they operate. To achieve this, our framework encompasses a range of aspects, including the development of robust CSR policies, the implementation of effective management systems, and the establishment of performance indicators to measure the success of CSR initiatives. We also address the importance of community engagement and partnerships in ensuring the successful implementation of CSR strategies. In addition to these core elements, our framework also covers key environmental sustainability issues, such as resource conservation, waste management, and pollution control, as well as the need for mining companies to address the climate change challenge. We explore the role of industry stakeholders, including governments, local communities, and civil society organizations, in promoting responsible mining practices and driving the adoption of CSR and environmental sustainability principles. Our framework can serve as a valuable tool for mining companies seeking to enhance their CSR and environmental sustainability performance, as well as for policymakers and regulators aiming to promote responsible mining practices and drive the sustainable development of the mining sector.
